Eligibility criteria
- From a disadvantaged background as outlined by the AAMC Medical Minority Applicant Registry (Med-MAR):
You are eligible if (a) you are a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident (LPR) of the United States (“Green Card” holder), or have been granted refugee/asylum or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status by the U.S. government, and (b) you are economically disadvantaged or of low socio-economic status (SES), or you self-identify as a member of a racial or ethnic group historically underrepresented in medicine–African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.
2. Currently enrolled in a Miami-Dade County college/university, enrolled in a Miami- Dade County medical school, and/or be a Miami-Dade County resident enrolled in a college/university or medical school attempting to take the MCAT or USMLE exam.
A. Must show proof of enrollment to Miami-Dade County college/university or medical school.
B. Must show proof of Miami-Dade County residence if enrolled in a school outside of Miami-Dade County.
3. Eligible applicants must be in good academic standing.
A. Must submit proof of good academic standing with a letter from college/university or medical school obtained. This can be obtained from a Dean or faculty advisor depending on the school.
B. Must submit transcripts.
C. Undergraduate pre-medical students must have above a 3.5 GPA.
D. Must show proof of purchase of an MCAT or USMLE examination.
E. Must submit a complete application.
Selection Criteria
1. Academic performance: Demonstrates the ability to excel and maintain good academic standing based on transcripts and letter of good standing.
2. No prior professionalism violations (suspensions, cheating)
